The Boston Blackie Kind

Doug did not go home with the Mustache Trophy that night, but he certainly gave it the old college try. Just so it wasn't a waste for him to grow all that facial hair and then spend time manscaping it, I have asked him (begged, really) to keep it for the weekend. He's convinced people are laughing at him when we go out in public, but I like it. Anyway, despite not winning the mustache competition, he did manage to find his cupcake doppelganger. That was a pretty good consolation prize.

I Love L.A.!

If every couple in the world could be like Rochelle and Jim, wedding photographers everywhere would shoot weddings every weekend, all year round. They rock! They're wicked fun, gorgeous, totally in love, and they live in my former hometown of Los Angeles. Their wedding was held at St. Clement's Castle in Connecticut. It was gorgeous. The ceremony overlooked the Connecticut River and all the grass was green and the flowers were in bloom and it didn't even rain while we were outside.

Love In An Elevator

As a photographer, I love it when I arrive at a location and immediately notice cool places to take photos. When Emily and I saw the glass elevator at the Hilton in Woburn, we knew we had to experiment. Tara and Steve are such an amazing wonderful couple. They are so generous with themselves, and it was no different when it came to dealing with us. So, up in the elevator they went...

When the Moon Hits Your Eye Like a Big Pizza Pie

This past weekend, I photographed Jamie and Brian's wedding with Emily. We had so much fun! There is so much to say about this wedding, but for now, I'll just post a few images.

I can't believe how fast the summer is going by! It's almost August, for goodness' sake. Then it will be the fall and Christmas season for all us photographers (and you pro-active shoppers). With my wedding work picking up, those of you who are interested in holiday photos should schedule as soon as you think of it! Then it will be actually Christmas, which means my trip to Buenos Aires to shoot a wedding. Yikes! Then when I get back from Argentina, it will be 2009. Where does the time go?

I Wish They All Could Be California Girls

You Belong Among the Wildflowers

I am finally getting around to posting some photos from Camille & Matt's wedding in June. I met Camille & Matt when I shot their engagement photos back in January. It happened to be one of the coldest days of the winter. They were good sports about it and I learned how to shoot while wearing mittens/gloves/fingerless gloves/hat/coat. Their wedding happened to fall on the hottest day up to that point. Figures, right? It was awesome! Every detail to the day had their stamp on it. They even put out travel-size board games at the different tables for their guests to play. I watched a very heated game of Battleship and the Hungry, Hungry Hippos was also pretty competitive. Whether they were supposed to or not, some of the guests definitely left with the games at the end of the party. Very sneaky.

This is the ceiling in the Multicultural Center for the Arts in Cambridge. Isn't it awesome?


Ring shot! I love that their rings are the same. Everything about the wedding really suited Camille and Matt as a couple and the rings were just one of those details.


The dress shot! Camille's dress had this classic feel to it. It really suited her and her hair and make-up matched the tone perfectly!




One of the other perfect details of the day was the cake. More specifically, the cake topper. I've seen flamenco dancers. I've seen glass fish. I've seen a bride dragging her groom. This was my first ever zombie bride & groom wedding cake topper! How awesome is it?

Into the Great Wide Open

This photo was taken by my darling Emily at a wedding we shot together last week. Can you say awesome? When I got my hands on the image, I had my own fun with the post-processing, using my brand new Totally Rad Actions. There's so much that goes in to photographing a wedding - planning, the actual day, and then all the editing. I am so lucky that I love all of it! Every single part suits a different quirky part of my personality. I love the way this photo came out, so I just felt like sharing!

I Knew Without Asking She Was Into the Blues

Today I had the pleasure of hearing from my very first college roommate. It was awesome to talk with her for a little while and even though our communication tends to be sporadic, we have this whole shared history that keeps us linked. I was one of the lucky ones who loved my roommate, and her friends. We had so much fun, and today on the phone, we reminisced about what a wonderful experience we had freshman year. It helped that we lived in a cool dorm, on a cool floor, in between two senior guys. We even had our own radio show. We were on at 5a on Monday mornings. Try that on for size! After talking with her this morning, I felt compelled to dig up some old photos. This is one of my favorites of the two of us. This is at the end of our freshman year. Yes, I wore purple birks and pigtails. I'd do it all again in a heartbeat.

Vacation, All I Ever Wanted

A month ago, I vacationed with a bunch of my friends to celebrate a college reunion of sorts. Way back when, over ten years ago, we all decided that we would go on a cruise together for a week. Well, the designated year arrived, and as you can imagine, a week on a boat started to seem a little tough to take. For instance, some of us now had children. All of us had jobs. The horror! We found a super-cool alternative - we stayed at a house in Park City, UT! It was close enough for people to come for a long weekend and we didn't need to worry about passports. Sign me up! Needless to say, we had a blast. There's something about spending time with people who really know you - they've seen you at your worst and your best, and still love you. All of my travel companions are AMAZING people - doctors, lawyers, businessmen, entrepreneurs. Everyone seems truly happy with their lives, which is inspiring on its own. I finally carved out a little time to post some of our trip photos (although I'll save the embarrassing ones for later), so enjoy! Dan, Mel, Mark, Alice, Amy, Andy, Rachel, Dennis, and Lesley - these are for you!

You Got To Have Friends

Tiffany and Billy are awesome. That's all there is to it. They have been huge supporters in my great photography journey and I wouldn't know what to do without them. Plus, Tiffany is one of the only people I can call before 10a! We recently attended a wedding together and I grabbed a couple of photos (well, many more than a couple, but a couple will do for now) of my friends.

Could they be any more gorgeous?!


I love this one of Tiffany; it looks dream-like. Plus, she looks so happy. It's got this timeless quality to it.


Okay, I know this isn't Tiffany and Billy, but it's rare that I get my photo taken. So, here we are - handsome Doug and me!

A Ring. And I Don't Mean on the Phone

Why would any sane person, on their wedding day, hand over their wedding rings to someone they barely know? Doug can't understand it. I, on the other hand, like to think that my clients enjoy ring photos and they hand the rings over because they know they're going to a) get them back, unscathed, and b) that the end result is cool photos. I'm hard at work over here, editing away. I'm going to have some Cheerios, turn on the iTunes, and settle in for the long haul. I've even got an A/C in my office, so there are no excuses! I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July weekend!

We've Been Together Since Way Back When

Doug and I are going to be celebrating 7 yrs together this summer (gulp!) and in honor of that (or just by sheer coincidence), this summer has been full of couples getting married after MANY years together. Sarah & Derek, Rochelle & Jim, and Suzanne & Doug were all together for over 5 years - one of these couples was together over 10 years before tying the knot! It's awesome. Each of these weddings was so romantic - the couples waited for their perfect moment to celebrate being together in the ultimate way. Honestly, I've been to a lot of weddings in my day and I'm over crying at them. Not anymore. Each of these weddings reduced me to tears. There's nothing more attractive than a photographer wiping away tears behind her camera. Congratulations! I have the sneaking suspicion it was all worth the wait...
