So I Don't Have to Dream Alone

Sometimes in photography there are happy accidents. This photo is of a moment I just happened to capture of Emily as she was coming in from our session in the rain. I just think she looks so amazingly ethereal and gorgeous. She's Chris' dream girl.

Upside Down

This photo of Kat and her bridesmaids was taken inside the limo on the way to the church. I experimented with some funky editing and sort of enjoy this look.

I am back from my whirlwind tour of New England. I spent Friday and Saturday in Newport, RI and, of course, it rained. Sunday, I was in Jaffrey, NH and, of course, it rained. However, I will say that I had the opportunity to work with some awesome brides and grooms this weekend. Did we let Hurricane Kyle stand in the way of our picture taking? No! Plus, a little rain couldn't dampen these happy couples' spirits! I'm so excited about the photos we took! Emily and I were running around like pack animals with umbrellas, reflectors, towels, and anything else we could carry. In the end, it was totally worth it. However, I am happy to be home! Now I have to get to work...

Everybody's Workin' For the Weekend

I will be away from my computer this weekend on a whirlwind wedding trip around New England! I will try to check my email, but my access might be a little spotty. If you need to reach me, you can always just give me a call!

Fun Fact for the day: Three months from today, Doug and I will be landing in Buenos Aires for what is sure to be an amazing wedding! Not to mention, a little getaway for us!

Have a wonderful weekend everybody! Stay dry!

The Sweetest Thing

This week I had the delicious pleasure of working with Kristi Jacobi, owner of the itty bitty bake shop, where you can buy all sorts of yummy baked goods in miniature. I love it when I get the chance to photograph her products because it also means I get to eat them, too. I mean, you can't sell a cookie once I've posed it a million ways and had my grubby hands all over it. Luckily, it works the same for cupcakes!

Honestly, these cupcakes were delicious! You can see there are no photos of the s'mores cupcakes Kristi made. That's because those were mainly for EATING! I tried to include photos with other objects so you can get a sense of how big the cupcakes are, but just so you know, they are about an inch and a half in diameter. Tiny little things. Or I guess I should say, itty bitty little things. Happy Wednesday!

If You Want Me

This past Friday night, Doug & I went to see The Swell Season in concert and all I have to say is, "Wow!" Honestly, it was a phenomenal concert. If you're not familiar with them, the band consists of Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. They won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2007 for the song "Falling Slowly" from the film "Once." If you don't know who they are, check them out on their website. I just had to share because the concert was so incredibly moving.

As an aside, you know what wasn't moving? Last night's Emmy broadcast. It was so horrible. The jokes were atrocious, the hosts were atrocious, and the sets were atrocious. What was with the poorly constructed living room sets? So, here are some quick thoughts...
1) When Tom Hanks first arrived, I thought it was Peter Fonda with the combed back hair and the colored sunglasses. Really? Really, Tom Hanks? Why are you channeling Peter Fonda?
2) The only good things were the old guys - Tom Smothers and Don Rickles.
3) Five bad hosts is exponentially worse than one bad host.
4) Maybe Jimmy Kimmel should have hosted. He seemed to know how bad things were.
5) Mary Tyler Moore's arm flab is not the same age as her face and therefore she should wear sleeves.
6) I like that Josh Groban doesn't take himself too seriously. But if you're going to show me an image from Cheers, let him sing the theme song, PLEASE.

Okay, that's it. I have to get ready for a shoot. Happy Monday!

I'll Be the Rainbow When the Sun is Gone

Amanda and Alex got married at the end of August. Not only is Amanda a gorgeous bride, but she's also Doug's sister! I felt honored that I had the privilege of photographing their wedding. It really meant the world to me and I had a blast doing it.

This is Amanda's dress. It was so beautiful, absolutely timeless.

This is a bridesmaid's bouquet - the color scheme was purple and green.

On the way out!

Amanda and Alex decided to see each other before the ceremony to get some photos out of the way. It really allowed them to participate in the cocktail hour with their guests, which was great. There was Greek dancing and singing and yummy food - who would want to miss that? Even though they saw each other ahead of time, we arranged a "First Look" moment for them so they still got that "wow" moment.

The bride wore the same necklace her grandmother wore on her wedding day. It's details like that that really help complete a wedding, which is why we made a point of photographing it.

The very handsome groom.

These two were great sports, posing all over the grounds of Elm Bank in Wellesley. This is the home of the Massaschusetts Horticultural Society, so it was amazing for photos. Everywhere I turned, there was a new location. Unfortunately, it was about 100 degrees out so we couldn't really run around all day.

The whole wedding party!

The bride's mother walked her down the aisle and I just love this moment between the two of them. How beautiful are they?!

Married!

Amanda & Alex, I can't thank you enough for asking me to photograph your wedding! It was so much fun! Everything was perfect. Congratulations!

You Touched My Very Soul

Tara and Steve helped us out back in the spring by being one of our photo workshop couples, so Emily and I were super-excited to photograph their first wedding day. They were flying down to Aruba for a destination wedding a couple of weeks after this one (somehow, Emily and I didn't make the cut for that) for their second wedding. It's hard for me to even write about my impressions of Tara and Steve. I don't think I've met another couple so utterly and altruistically generous with themselves. They immediately made me feel like family. I had so much fun photographing their wedding. Here are a few (more than a few) of my favorite photos from their day.

This sign was hanging in their living room. You know that as soon as Emily and I saw it, we pulled out our cameras.

The gorgeous dress. Lucky Tara got two dresses - this was her hometown dress.

The shoes! Tara wrote Steve's initials on the soles of her shoes so that when she was kneeling in church, the guests would be able to see them.

The bride right after putting her dress on. I just love how natural it all looks and how ready for the day she is.

The bride and groom after they walked back down the aisle and out into the world.

Sharing a moment before the guests come out.

The bridesmaids' flowers. Instead of carrying traditional bouquets, they walked down the aisle with these balls of flowers.

The rings. The first photo is taken on the back of the wedding program. In the second photo, the rings are right in the path of stained-glass window light. I love the blues.

The bride.

The bride and her mother.

We spend all this time photographing the bride, I thought it only fair that I include a photo of the handsome groom.

The VERY happy couple.

I don't know if photographs could ever really capture the love these two radiate, but all you need to do is spend some time around them and you can feel it.

The Summer's Out of Reach

An homage to the end of summer.

You've Got the Cutest Little Baby Face

I photographed this little munchkin a few weeks ago and I still can't get over how kickin' cute she is! I really loved a lot of her photos in black and white, so there are a bunch of those here, too.

Who doesn't love baby feet? She posed like this all on her own - a natural, I tell ya!

This photo looks so tranquil to me. Such big eyes!

Things have been busy around here, which is very exciting. Appointments are starting to book up for the holidays, which blows my mind. So, if you're interested in scheduling a holiday session, email me or call me and let's get it on the calendar!

And, of course, the new TV season has started! I know, I know, pathetic. I'm really excited for Pushing Daisies to come back and it looks like there are going to be some good new shows, too. To top it off, I'm getting the feeling that movies are getting better, too. As it gets closer to awards season, movie options will improve. I saw Burn After Reading the other day and it was great. Dark, but funny.

Holiday photo sessions, new TV shows, buzz-worthy movies - it must be fall!

My Home Sweet Home

Following the 2008 Olympics, Winchester welcomed home its own Olympic medal winner, Alicia Sacramone. Now, we're just a small town, but there was a parade and a gathering on the common. The P.A. system was a little faulty, but I'm pretty sure they knighted Alicia or made her Queen of the Town or maybe gave her the key to the city. Something very exciting happened, regardless. Since this was all happening essentially in our backyard, Doug and I strolled over to check it all out. It's not every day there's a ticker-less ticker tape parade. I will tell you off the bat that I am clearly not meant to be a paparazzi photographer. First of all, I'm way too short. Second of all, I had a moral dilemma over whether or not I should push the small children out of my way to get a better photo. Morals won out and the kids stood in front of me and blocked my shot. However, I still managed to get some cool shots.

This is Alicia making her way to the podium.

Doug took the next two photos (because I'm too short). In the first one, I'm pretty sure Winchester just promised Alicia its first born. Can't you see what's written on that plaque?

In this photo, the rally seems to have taken on a different subject. It's not everyday the CIA is celebrated with silver mylar balloons!

In all seriousness, after all the strange controversy surrounding the Olympics, and especially gymnastics, Alicia Sacramone deserved a nice homecoming. I was happy to be a part of it. It's very easy to get caught up in the excitement and the patriotism. We should be proud of all the athletes who competed - they are all amazing. I can't even balance on the Wii Fit board, never mind a balance beam!

All Is Full of Love

Sarah & Derek got married back in June at a cute little inn in the mountains of Vermont. By the end of the night, the wedding was in the middle of a rain cloud, literally. That didn't stop the party, though. I've known Sarah for years and years and years and the older we get, the closer we get. Derek has become a friend, too - not just the boyfriend/fiance/husband of my friend. Of course, it was only natural that I brought my camera along to their wedding. These are some of my favorite shots from the day - a little love letter for one of my favorite couples.

Sarah and Derek did so much of the work for their wedding themselves. Sarah loves the color orange, so a lot of the decor took on a nice autumn-y feel.

The very romantic first dance. You can tell just by looking at their faces how happy and in love they are. Wouldn't the world be a better place if everyone had a love like that?

Some high school peeps in the background of this photo. Hi guys!

And here we find ourselves in the rain cloud, fighting with umbrellas...

This is one of my all-time favorite father-daughter images - you can see Sarah's dad has one single tear in his eye. So beautiful. Sarah and Derek did something awesome for their parent dances. While Sarah danced with her dad, Derek danced with her mom. When Derek danced with his mom, Sarah danced with his father. It was a really great way to include everyone. Traditional, but different. It was beautiful to see and fun to photograph.

Sarah saved a special dance for Devin.

For those of you interested in seeing more images, you can check out this slideshow! My initial instinct was to use the song "All is Full of Love" by Bjork, since it was the song Sarah & Derek danced to as their first dance. However, not surprising, it wasn't really a slideshow kind of song. So, I went with another of their favorites, "Ocean Stone" by Chris O'Brien. Enjoy!
