I Want to Hold Your Hand

It was so much fun working with this family. They have two teenage sons and this little one. I love families like that, mainly because they mirror my own. I have a brother who's not even two years younger than me and a sister who's sixteen years younger. She wasn't even three when I left for college. It's a crazy age difference, but so much fun (or it was until she became a teenager...). These two boys doted on their sister during the time I spent with them. And let me tell you, teenage boys do not always want to get their pictures taken with their family, but these two couldn't have been more cooperative. I love this picture because it shows the difference in ages, and it shows who's really the star of the show at this point!

I went to see White Christmas at the Wang Center last night and it was so great! I absolutely love that movie, and to see it performed on stage was pretty cool. The costumes, the sets, the musical numbers... It really put me in the Christmas spirit. Next, I'll tackle present wrapping!

Maybe I'll Count the Stars Until Dawn

I'm back in the swing of things now - two posts in two days! The title of this post is taken from one of my FAVORITE Christmas songs, "Hard Candy Christmas" by Dolly Parton. It's one of those songs you need to sing at the top of your lungs. Growing up, we had this one cassette of Christmas songs that my parents' friend Jay made us, titled "Rock and Roll Christmas Party." It had songs on there by Bruce Springsteen, the Eagles, the Beach Boys, Paul McCartney, Greg Lake, Stevie Wonder, John Lennon.... and this was way before they had the "A Very Special Christmas" series. We overplayed this tape year after year. A couple of years ago, we managed to recreate the tape in CD format and I listened to "Hard Candy Christmas" today. Let me tell you, it was the first of many times this season! On to the photos...

There are just some babies who are happier when they're naked, and this delicious cutie was one of them! I got to hang out with her and her parents for a little bit for a fun family session and they were so much fun. These are just a few of my favorite photos from our sitting.





Hopefully I'll be back tomorrow with more! I'm thankful I don't have to adhere to a regular work week - going back tomorrow would be a rude awakening. But I definitely enjoyed the holiday weekend with my friends and family and hope you all did, too.

Halfway to Work and Halfway Home

Happy Belated Thanksgiving! I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday, and their holiday weekend. I had the best intentions of getting up wicked early on Friday morning and hitting any one of the "early bird specials" but chose to sleep in a little instead. Today was my consumer fun day, although I don't really feel like I made a dent in my shopping list. However, I did buy two new pairs of tights for an outift I need to wear later this week. Let's hope at least one of them fits/goes. Also, you may remember I went on my road trip - got back safe and sound Tuesday night. My friend and I did such a great job driving (she drove, I navigated - like a rock star) and we managed to avoid any major rush hour/holiday traffic until we got about ten miles away from home. It took three hours to finish the last ten miles or so. Are you KIDDING me? We're lucky we didn't kill each other, ourselves, or anyone else on the road. The trip was fabulous though. I drank from the Fountain of Youth, so don't expect me to age any from here on in, plus we stopped at a Civil War battleground in North Carolina, which was really cool. My friend Meg and I travel well together because we both love history, so we love stopping at all sorts of wacky random historical sites off the highway. I took a bunch of photos, so once I go through them, I'll post some.

To hold you over, here's a senior photo I took before my trip. Jane was a great model, and although she donned a couple of outfits, I think this one was my favorite. Also, I'm a huge fan of hats.



Just in case you hadn't noticed, it's officially Christmas season! That means I can listen to my Christmas music now without being ashamed!

Vacation, All I Ever Wanted

Tomorrow morning, I'm boarding a plane to fly way down south, only to drive back up to Boston with a friend of mine. She drove with me to Los Angeles when I moved out there in 2001, so it's about time I returned the favor. Plus, my friend Meg has been down in Florida training dolphins, which means there's a good chance I could be coming in close contact with some marine life. Road trips are awesome vacations. Love 'em. Since Thanksgiving is next Thursday, we can't exactly dilly-dally, but we have a couple of stops planned. As long as I can take tons of photos, I'll be happy. So, if any of you need to get in touch with me, just give me a call. You can always check in to see what state I'm in! I'll also check my email when I get the chance.

Yes, I had a shoot with pez dispensers. There are a lot more where this came from, but I'll have to work on the rest when I get home!

You and Me Together

I grabbed this line from the new Alicia Keyes single "No One" which I've found to be very catchy. Also, the lyrics remind me a lot of Rihanna's "Umbrella." All that talk of rain and being together. Songs like this really apply to any relationship and the relationship between sisters is a forever sort of bond that I thought fit.

These little girls were so much fun to play with! Running around, raking the yard, doing mom's hair, showing me their toys - they did it all. Both girls have such beautiful eyes and were totally photogenic. Take a look for yourselves...

The Story of My Life Begins and Ends With You

Marissa and Heath got married at the very end of October at an inn nestled right into Mt. Monadnock in New Hampshire. Their plan was to use the foliage as a backdrop for their ceremony. Nature had other plans. It rained all day. Nothing fazed this couple - they were awesome! I had so much fun photographing their wedding - all the details were in place and the guests danced the night away. I took a ton of pictures, so I'm still narrowing it down for the blog, but here's the first installation - a glimpse into getting ready and a couple from the ceremony.

I Get a Kick Out of You

These twins were so much fun to shoot! I just followed them along as they went about their playtime and was able to get some great expressions from them - contemplative, skeptical, sassy, curious, and even sad. Here are two of my favorite shots from the day - these are total holiday card shots:

When I went to write this post, I realized my last post had been my 100th! That's pretty exciting. I should have featured some celebrities or something to commemorate it, like on TV.

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah

Have you ever seen a 10 month old whistle? Meet Toby! The whistling thing makes him quite possibly the most talented baby I've ever met. I can't even whistle! Toby even has his own blog where he chats about his life and his friends and the trials of being a baby. He made all sorts of fun faces that I loved photographing. Just look at that face!

I Wanna Be on Top!

America's Next Top Model that is! This past weekend, I participated in an America's Next Top Model birthday party. It was pretty much my dream come true. And these girls were psyched to be models. If you watch the show, you know that every week, the contestants participate in challenges. These 12 year olds had two challenges: 1) To make wedding dresses out of toilet paper, and 2) To design a clothing company and design two outfits using fabric. It was awesome. And I was their esteemed "noted fashion photographer." Here is a silly photo of the birthday girl in one of her outfits:

I can't help loving America's Next Top Model; I have been a faithful viewer since it started. I'd say it was my guilty pleasure, except, frankly, I don't feel guilty about it. So, of course I found it relatively easy to transition to VH-1's The Shot, about aspiring fashion photographers. There has only been one episode so far but it's fascinating watching the photographers work it - how they shoot, how they treat their models, their different styles. I'm excited to see how things play out.

I've been super busy editing this past week which is why I haven't posted in a few days. I should have more up in the next couple of days. And next week I take off on a little road trip/vacation/photo expedition, which I am REALLY looking forward to. If you haven't driven cross-country yet, I highly recommend it!

We came across this couple on one very decorated walkway last night. I immediately joked that I should take a photo of them so that Doug and I could use it as our Save-the-Date. What do you think? It has potential, right?

'Cause This is Thriller, Thriller Night

I hope everyone enjoyed their Halloweens yesterday! I was lucky enough to get to spend time with some kids-in-disguise and even trick-or-treat a little. No one is too old for candy, and I definitely know the strategic houses that give out full-size candy bars. The kids I was with preferred the gummy eyeballs, so it worked out perfectly. Since Halloween has already come and gone, here are just a couple of photos of the little bugs I spent some time with yesterday.
