Boston Baby Photography: That's Where I Saw This Cutie

Every baby needs a rapper persona!


This is my new friend Baby M. He is one very lucky boy! Not only do his parents love him, but he is the first grandson in his family! Something tells me he's going to have them all wrapped around his little finger. It will be interesting to see what happens now that his Nonna can't buy all matching outfits for her grandchildren.






Yay for adorable babies! In between the weekend weddings, I've been photographing all sorts of babies, so keep an eye out for those posts! I know I've been a horrible blogger lately. I blame the editing. And the summer.

Boston Family Photographer: We're Having a Heat Wave

This little guy was such a pleasure to photograph! First of all, I think he knew a record number of words. Secondly, he could really throw a ball! He legitimately had a great arm! He's got a good future ahead of him in school and sports! Getting to hang out with my littlest clients at their homes is always so much fun. I got to see his car collection and his books and even some of his stuffed animals (a few of which ended up on my head).







Since we had such a beautiful day, we were able to go outside and play, too! There's something so joyful about swinging!

It's Raining Men

I love going to my clients' houses and photographing their families right after they bring their new little ones home. It's always such an exciting time! This family had just welcomed their third son.



It's always fun to see how siblings react to their new baby brothers/sisters. Sort of an "I won't sit with you, but maybe I'll poke you in the head to see what your story is" kind of philosophy.


Eyes!


There was absolutely no rain on this gorgeous day but the boys love playing under the golf umbrella. They carried it around and made forts with it. Who am I to say it can't be in the photo?


Definitely two of my favorites from the day! Quiet time with mommy. I couldn't choose just one, so you get to see both of them.

You Gotta Know When To Hold 'Em

There are so many things to blog from my trip to Los Angeles, but I'll start simple. While I was there, I visited with my cousin's family. Back when I moved to Los Angeles, my cousin and his wife had no kids. By the time I moved, they had two kids. Now, they have three. After all the taking care of me they did on the west coast, the least I could do was snap a few photos of their gorgeous, sun-kissed boys! I can't even tell you how well-behaved these kids are (despite a little poker habit they seem to be picking up). I know my east coast family will be thrilled to see this photo, too.



Since the last time I blogged, I had some crazy adventures that I can't wait to share with you. Really. I've come up with blog post titles and everything. I just need to edit first. Suffice to say, my trips back to L.A. I think will happen a lot more frequently! Maybe I'm on my way to being bicoastal. Too bad I have to take a plane to get there.

You Wanna Be Starting Something

In March of 2007, I photographed this family for the first time. Harrison was just six months old and photographing him was one of my first assignments as an independent photographer. I had recently left the studio I had been working for to strike out on my own and I totally lucked out meeting Harrison's family. Harrison's mom passed the word along to her friends and they've kept me employed for close to two years now. That's how it all started. Now they have a new little baby - Lily. She is six months old, so it was time for her supermodel debut. She's off to a great start!

For some reason, baby clothes designers still feel the need to put lots of tiny buttons on the backs of clothes. Go figure.


Look at this gorgeous face! I love it when babies look straight into the camera and for some reason, really seem to be connecting. You can tell there's something going on behind those beautiful eyes.


And, of course, here's the big brother. He's changed so much over the past year and a half. For one thing, he's a little blondie now! He's also running around and talking in sentences. He's certainly challenging Lily to keep up with him.

Let's Hear it For the Boys

A day at the beach. I met up with this family at Singing Beach, which I hadn't been to in forever. We were lucky to have some nice weather before autumn really set in. I got to play in the ocean one last time which was great for the soul but not great for keeping my pants dry! My friend Charlie is a very active two year old and we just ran around and around and around. This is a photo of Charlie and his dad...



Since today is VOTING DAY and I've already voted, I think I might treat myself to a movie this afternoon. It's always a good day for the movies!

I recently had the pleasure of photographing these three musketeers again. They are such funny kids! We were able to shoot in a neighbor's backyard so we could get the pond in the background for some of the photos, which was awesome. There are millions of hidden treasures, like this pond, all over Massachusetts alone. I love getting the opportunity to discover them. We also made use of the fall foliage, which in New England, you can't pass up.

See, I told you I'd be posting more! Despite the failing economy, I'm feeling pretty good about life right now. Election day is right around the corner and I am SOOO excited! I registered to vote as soon as I turned 18 and I really enjoy being part of the process. This year, however, is particularly historical. If you are over 18 and are registered to vote, DO IT! I honestly feel that if you don't take advantage of your privilege to vote this year, you should be ashamed. No matter who wins, we're making history. How could you not want to be a part of that? Okay, I'm off my soapbox now! Happy Thursday!

I'm Learning to Fly

Finally I can get back to posting! Just yesterday I essentially finished editing all of this season's weddings, which has me very excited. My next wedding is in about two months - in Buenos Aires! The holidays are right around the corner. Every year, I photograph my friend Tiffany's family. I've been doing it since before her son was born (she was my first maternity shoot out of the studio) and it's always fun to spend some time with them. Earlier this month I was able to scoot down to the Cape for a visit and a photo shoot.

Here's Nick. He loved riding on his scooter. He seemed to think I was pretty amusing, so I'll thank him for that when he gets older.



This is Nick's best friend Ruby. Adorable, huh? I have a feeling their moms are planning some sort of pagan betrothal.



And this little guy is Ruby's baby brother Odin.


It was awesome that we could still take advantage of the nice autumn weather. I can't say enough about Tiffany and her family. I can tell you she is an amazing wife, mother, and friend but the words could never convey the actuality of it all. I'm lucky to have her in my life, for sure! When we were in high school, we stood in line in the snow at the crack of dawn to get tickets to see Tom Petty at the Boston Garden - the REAL Boston Garden. It seemed only fitting to use a Petty song for her post.

Now that I've come up for air, you'll be seeing a lot of new posts. I've still got a couple of weddings to write about as well as a lot of other shoots! Stay tuned...

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah

Have you ever seen a 10 month old whistle? Meet Toby! The whistling thing makes him quite possibly the most talented baby I've ever met. I can't even whistle! Toby even has his own blog where he chats about his life and his friends and the trials of being a baby. He made all sorts of fun faces that I loved photographing. Just look at that face!

Who Is This Walking Man?

This walking (little) man is the son of my very good friends, Dennis & Lesley. Connor is a year and a half now and I first took his photos back when he was six months old. He still has those giant amazingly blue eyes (he has mom to thank for those), but now he's running and talking. We spent the day playing and taking photos and just enjoying ourselves.

Back at the house, dad filled up the baby pool and Connor got to splash around for a little bit, although the water was a little too cold for him to actually get in.


Connor has this great personality and I love photographing him! It also means I get to hang out with his parents, which I also thoroughly enjoy. I met Dennis at my senior prom all those years ago. And you might say Lesley helped me snag my current beau, although the results took a little while. Ah, the memories. Regardless, hopefully I'll be seeing them all again soon - it's almost time for Christmas photos!

I had a really great newborn sitting and an engagement session recently, so I need to get those edited and posted. I've also been doing a bunch of headshots recently, which is always fun. Just keeping busy when I can and preparing myself for some fall TV, because I am a pathetic TV addict. Although, last night I definitely mourned the loss of The Gilmore Girls. It had been my favorite show on television and now my Tuesday nights are empty...

You're Not Even Aware, You're Such a Funny Pair

The title of this post comes from the song "Best Friends" sung by Pearl Bailey on the Fox & the Hound soundtrack. These are the lyrics for the first stanza:

When you're the best of friends
Having so much fun together
You're not even aware, you're such a funny pair

These words struck me as the perfect description for the following photo.

As an aside, I photographed Nick when he was about 6 weeks old. Now he's almost two! It's an amazing experience to be able to consistently photograph the same children throughout their lives. I've been lucky to be able to do that, and hope to keep doing it!
