My Momma Loves Me

Even though I photograph a fair amount of weddings these days, I got my start photographing families and babies. I love having the opportunity to get to know a family, to see the dynamic, and to be a part of their world for just a little while. Yesterday I had the chance to photograph Dante on his 3 month birthday. I've known Dante's father since we junior-high age and it's a riot to see him around this little baby. You better believe the little one rules the roost! I loved watching Dante's mother play with him and listen to her voice change when she spoke to him. You can just hear the little whispers of love in each sentence. Beautiful! So, I thought I would get right on these and post a couple so the family can see them.

I love taking close-up shots of babies. I can't help it. This photo is such a nice introduction to this little man.


Baby toes!


We totally tired Dante out with the modeling and he managed to drift off to sleep at the end of our shoot. He was a total trooper, though. As I was starting to get ready to leave, I captured this moment between mother and son.


I have another little baby shoot coming up this week, which I am very excited about. And a model shoot tomorrow. And I'm doing some work with Kristi on Monday. Life is good.

I Remember When Rock Was Young

One more boudoir image that doesn't reveal too much! This is my 7th blog post in a row, so I'm pretty happy. It's been a fun little experiment to post everyday and have to come up with new song lyrics. Maybe next I'll choose another 70s superhero - Paul Simon or James Taylor or something. There's a whole world of music out there!

This weekend was pretty amazing. In my last post (which seemed a little dazed), I mentioned that I tried octopus. Very adventurous of me. I second shot a really fun wedding on Saturday. It was great to get back in the swing of things. Today I actually had a site visit for an upcoming wedding, so now I'm really in wedding mode. I also had a headshot session today. It went so well. I love photographing people. I love when they show up nervous and go home happy. It truly makes me feel like I've done my job and done it well. With today's headshot comes some definite excitement but I'll hold off on that announcement until later. Tomorrow I go back to photographing babies! I'm so excited to meet this little guy. And then I get to introduce you all to him. Until then, have a lovely Sunday night! There are only about 2 minutes left!

'Cause Saturday Night's the Night I Like

Just over a month ago, I photographed Katherine at 8 months pregnant. She was amazing - totally up for anything. We even took some photos outside in the cold. I immediately posted one of my favorites from the shoot but never got around to posting any of the others. Well, the little one was born last week, so I figured it was time. Especially since I'm going up to meet her this week. All new photos to post!



I wanted to post this second photo because I think a lot of woman get creeped out by the idea of maternity photos. They think it's going to be all about a bare belly and some don't want to do that. Bellies are beautiful, but that's not all I photograph! I take maternity photos to capture that exciting time, right before the baby comes. Katherine, Mike, and I just walked around town and enjoyed hanging out. Some of them focused on the pregnancy, some of them didn't. All of them are beautiful.

Live For Each Second Without Hesitation

That was a close one! The internet/cable has been out since just after 5p. It just disappeared, right in the beginning of Gilmore Girls. However, because of the outage, Doug and I went downstairs to have some sushi and a drink and I actually tried dried octopus. Very strange. Although I have to say, it wasn't that bad.

This photo is yet another one from my boudoir session last weekend. I have had so much fun editing all the pictures! I could not be any happier with the results. Tomorrow I'm photographing a wedding - I'll be second shooting, so I'm really excited about that. Then Sunday I have a headshot session. It will all keep me very very busy!

Until I Saw Your City Lights, Honey, I was Blind

I have committed a horrible photographer crime - not only have I not posted any photos from our trip to Argentina, but I haven't printed any up, either. I'm going to remedy half of that tonight by posting a couple tonight. These photos represent a VERY small fraction of what I shot while we were in Buenos Aires, but I think little by little, they'll make their way on here. However, in the "do what I say, not what I do" category, I implore all my clients to print their photos! Those of you who choose to purchase the digital images own something invaluable - the ability to print your photos whenever and wherever you want, as many times as you want. Take advantage of that. Photos are meant to be tangible. They're no good just hanging out on the computer. Print them, frame them, send them to grandparents. Think about how much you love looking through your parents' old photo albums, even your grandparents' old albums. Your kids should have the same opportunity. I worry that my clients don't ever print their photos up. Technology changes so fast - in 20 yrs, will the technology still exist for you to look at those DVDs on the computer? Print print print!


This last photo was actually taken in Uruguay. We spent the day there exploring this little coastal town called Colonia.

She's Always Been A Lady of the Road

The title of this post comes from the song "Rock and Roll Madonna."

On Valentine's Day, Doug and I went to the the Acton Jazz Cafe to listen to some jazz and hang out. On the wall there was this really cool photo of a woman's foot in a stiletto and there was just something about it that captured my attention. First of all, it looked uncomfortable - the "beauty is pain" philosophy manifested in a photo. Second, it was just the back of the shoe - you couldn't see the toes at all. This past weekend, when I saw that one of my clients was wearing the fishnets and the black heel, I decided it was my turn to try to recreate that photo. It's obviously not the same, nor would I want it to be, but I'm really happy with the results.

She's Got Electric Boots

Day Two and I'm just getting this post up under the wire! The post title comes from the song, "Bennie and the Jets," in case you didn't know. Anybody with electric boots just has to be super-cool (or "really keen" as the song says), so it's the perfect song to go with this photo!
