So I Don't Have to Dream Alone

Sometimes in photography there are happy accidents. This photo is of a moment I just happened to capture of Emily as she was coming in from our session in the rain. I just think she looks so amazingly ethereal and gorgeous. She's Chris' dream girl.

Upside Down

This photo of Kat and her bridesmaids was taken inside the limo on the way to the church. I experimented with some funky editing and sort of enjoy this look.


I am back from my whirlwind tour of New England. I spent Friday and Saturday in Newport, RI and, of course, it rained. Sunday, I was in Jaffrey, NH and, of course, it rained. However, I will say that I had the opportunity to work with some awesome brides and grooms this weekend. Did we let Hurricane Kyle stand in the way of our picture taking? No! Plus, a little rain couldn't dampen these happy couples' spirits! I'm so excited about the photos we took! Emily and I were running around like pack animals with umbrellas, reflectors, towels, and anything else we could carry. In the end, it was totally worth it. However, I am happy to be home! Now I have to get to work...

Everybody's Workin' For the Weekend

I will be away from my computer this weekend on a whirlwind wedding trip around New England! I will try to check my email, but my access might be a little spotty. If you need to reach me, you can always just give me a call!

Fun Fact for the day: Three months from today, Doug and I will be landing in Buenos Aires for what is sure to be an amazing wedding! Not to mention, a little getaway for us!

The Sweetest Thing

This week I had the delicious pleasure of working with Kristi Jacobi, owner of the itty bitty bake shop, where you can buy all sorts of yummy baked goods in miniature. I love it when I get the chance to photograph her products because it also means I get to eat them, too. I mean, you can't sell a cookie once I've posed it a million ways and had my grubby hands all over it. Luckily, it works the same for cupcakes!








Honestly, these cupcakes were delicious! You can see there are no photos of the s'mores cupcakes Kristi made. That's because those were mainly for EATING! I tried to include photos with other objects so you can get a sense of how big the cupcakes are, but just so you know, they are about an inch and a half in diameter. Tiny little things. Or I guess I should say, itty bitty little things. Happy Wednesday!

If You Want Me

This past Friday night, Doug & I went to see The Swell Season in concert and all I have to say is, "Wow!" Honestly, it was a phenomenal concert. If you're not familiar with them, the band consists of Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. They won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2007 for the song "Falling Slowly" from the film "Once." If you don't know who they are, check them out on their website. I just had to share because the concert was so incredibly moving.

As an aside, you know what wasn't moving? Last night's Emmy broadcast. It was so horrible. The jokes were atrocious, the hosts were atrocious, and the sets were atrocious. What was with the poorly constructed living room sets? So, here are some quick thoughts...
1) When Tom Hanks first arrived, I thought it was Peter Fonda with the combed back hair and the colored sunglasses. Really? Really, Tom Hanks? Why are you channeling Peter Fonda?
2) The only good things were the old guys - Tom Smothers and Don Rickles.
3) Five bad hosts is exponentially worse than one bad host.
4) Maybe Jimmy Kimmel should have hosted. He seemed to know how bad things were.
5) Mary Tyler Moore's arm flab is not the same age as her face and therefore she should wear sleeves.
6) I like that Josh Groban doesn't take himself too seriously. But if you're going to show me an image from Cheers, let him sing the theme song, PLEASE.

I'll Be the Rainbow When the Sun is Gone

Amanda and Alex got married at the end of August. Not only is Amanda a gorgeous bride, but she's also Doug's sister! I felt honored that I had the privilege of photographing their wedding. It really meant the world to me and I had a blast doing it.

This is Amanda's dress. It was so beautiful, absolutely timeless.

Amanda and Alex decided to see each other before the ceremony to get some photos out of the way. It really allowed them to participate in the cocktail hour with their guests, which was great. There was Greek dancing and singing and yummy food - who would want to miss that? Even though they saw each other ahead of time, we arranged a "First Look" moment for them so they still got that "wow" moment.



The bride wore the same necklace her grandmother wore on her wedding day. It's details like that that really help complete a wedding, which is why we made a point of photographing it.

These two were great sports, posing all over the grounds of Elm Bank in Wellesley. This is the home of the Massaschusetts Horticultural Society, so it was amazing for photos. Everywhere I turned, there was a new location. Unfortunately, it was about 100 degrees out so we couldn't really run around all day.

You Touched My Very Soul

Tara and Steve helped us out back in the spring by being one of our photo workshop couples, so Emily and I were super-excited to photograph their first wedding day. They were flying down to Aruba for a destination wedding a couple of weeks after this one (somehow, Emily and I didn't make the cut for that) for their second wedding. It's hard for me to even write about my impressions of Tara and Steve. I don't think I've met another couple so utterly and altruistically generous with themselves. They immediately made me feel like family. I had so much fun photographing their wedding. Here are a few (more than a few) of my favorite photos from their day.

This sign was hanging in their living room. You know that as soon as Emily and I saw it, we pulled out our cameras.


The gorgeous dress. Lucky Tara got two dresses - this was her hometown dress.


The shoes! Tara wrote Steve's initials on the soles of her shoes so that when she was kneeling in church, the guests would be able to see them.

I don't know if photographs could ever really capture the love these two radiate, but all you need to do is spend some time around them and you can feel it.
