Old Friends Sat on a Park Bench Like Bookends

Maile is one of my oldest friends and one of my best models! She lives across the country and when she was home for a visit, we were able to squeeze in a shoot. Each of us had our own ideas for photos, so we just experimented. As you can see, we had a lot of fun.

Singin' in the Rain, in the shower...

Our next Cover Girl model...

I think this looks like a photo we would have cut out of a magazine when we were in junior high...

Good Morning, Good Morning!

Today was a very exciting day for me. Doug & I went to see Debbie Reynolds perform at Waltham High School with the Reagle Players. So what if we were the only young people there without our parents or grandparents?! It was still awesome. In case you didn't know, I have pretty much two degrees in film, plus I lived in L.A. for over 2 years, so to get a little taste of Hollywood in the suburbs of Boston was pretty frickin' exciting to me! Of course, I kept pleading with Doug to figure out a way for me to meet Debbie Reynolds, but he's shy and thought I should do all the recon. So, being quite the clever stalker, I figured out where she would be exiting. There were some other smart people there, but not too many. This is the result:

I swear I don't always look this psychotic. It's only because I got to meet DEBBIE REYNOLDS! Does anyone else but me find this to be the highlight of April?! She still looks and sounds great. It was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. HOORAY!

Sweet-talkin' sugar-coated Candyman

This shoot of Krista pays homage to the pin-ups of the 1940s. She did her own hair and make-up, which are amazing. It's surprising how much she really transformed herself. These shots are some of my favorites (although there were a couple of goofy ones I omitted).

This photo is of Krista in a wool mint green turtleneck sweater with poofy sleeves from the 1960s. There's a matching skirt, which she's wearing, but it didn't make it into this picture. Who knew Maryanne's outfits would still be getting worn in 2007?

For Emily, Wherever I May Find Her

That's the title of a Simon & Garfunkel song, in case you were curious as to why I couldn't find Emily. Although, it's not easy finding her under all this make-up! She did a great job modeling. Usually, my photos are more natural, but I decided to go for something a little more editorial and conceptualized. When you come across cool curlers like these, you have to find a way to use them!

I thought, to be fair to Emily, I would include a glamorous, beautiful photo of her, so people could see how not trashy she really is! She cleans up real nice, huh?

Here Comes the Sun

Dorie usually finds herself behind the camera, so it was a nice switch for me to be able to photograph her. Clearly she watches her America's Next Top Model, because she posed like it was her job!

If you can believe it, we squeezed our photos in on the one sunny, warm day we had. Dorie got to bask in the sun and the next day it snowed! Next up: Emily!

You Better Work, Work It Girl!

This is Yajaira. She's an amazing photographer and, occasionally, a reluctant model. As I'm writing this, I realized I have now known Yajaira for three years. That's crazy! We were so young back then! But hey, I'd say we're aging pretty nicely... These photos prove it!

Hopefully, each day I'll be able to post something new from our Photo Day this past Wednesday! I had 4 models, so I've got a lot of editing to do. Wish me luck!

Growing Older But Not Up

The other day I photographed Meg, a singer, dancer, dreamer, cross-country traveler, crafter, and animal-trainer-to-be. The location was perfect for someone like her because she's constantly bouncing around and having fun and being silly. Here are just a few of my favorites...

There were plenty of others to choose from. Maybe some of them will pop up in future blogs.

This past Wednesday, I collaborated with 4 other talented photographers and we had a Photo Day - the first of many. We shot until our arms were sore from holding our cameras all day. My next project will be going through those photos and choosing the best to post. So, keep checking back! They will be worth it.

Eat Your Vegetables

Recently I was commissioned to photograph green vegetables. A kitchen series, if you will. Although the subjects were extremely obedient, there was still a lot of styling involved. Who knew vegetables could have a bad side?
Here is some glamorous asparagus:

And who doesn't love an artichoke? Doesn't she look beautiful?

And here's some edgy cabbage...

I have a shoot this afternoon and another on Wednesday, so I should have more posts up this week.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps

In case you never realized what a good prop a guitar makes, I thought I'd show you.

This is Billy; he plays guitar and sings for the band Sleeprunner. The guitar in these photographs made its public debut that day. You can find Billy's music on www.sleeprunner.com or www.myspace.com/sleeprunner. Check 'em out!

This is Andy; he wants to be a guitar player. I'm guessing he spends equal amounts of time practicing on this guitar as he does practicing with Guitar Hero.

This is Krista; she's a singer and songwriter who plays guitar. Or, if I ask nicely, she'll just pose with one.

This isn't a guitar, but it's still a musical instrument... This is Tessa; she plays the trumpet, but rarely practices.
