Hot Town, Summer In The City

It was one of those super hot and sticky days that made you want to put your cheek on a cool marble floor and just stay there. And we were going hiking! Mind you, I'm a poor hiker on the best of days, never mind in 100 degree weather. But, we were totally game. Especially if it meant we were going to end up at a stone castle. Well, needless to say, that didn't happen. Doug, Jenna, Patrick, and I were clearly not meant to be navigators or forest trackers. When things started to look rather bleak, and very sweaty, we decided ice cream would cheer us up! What better place to go than Kimball Farm?!

Here are some of my favorites from our adventure.

Word to the wise... if you go to Kimball Farm for ice cream, make sure you order a Kiddie size. Maybe a small if you have a gigantic need for ice cream. Do not get cocky and think you can eat a large. End of story.

To A Guy In Kentucky, I'm Mister Unlucky

This is a beet.

I saw it and immediately thought it looked like a Tim Burton character. It does, right?

You're All I Dream About, I Can't Live Without

Doug and I drove down to Rhode Island last weekend to spend the morning with Joanna & Charles. Their wedding is coming up this fall and it was time for their engagement session. We hung out at Goddard Park, which pretty much had everything a giant park should have - shoreline, woodsy areas, grassy areas, old buildings, large outcrops of rocks, and a golf course. I think we could have explored all day long! However, I'm pretty sure both boys had places they'd rather be (in front of gaming consoles). Thanks, Joanna & Charles for being such good sports!

Plenty of other photos to go through this week! Summer is in full swing. My own personal summer concert series started this past week with Jimmy Buffett on Thursday. My schedule did not allow me to partake in the tailgating activities, but I still enjoyed the show. Overall, I didn't think it was one of his best. He played a lot of his hits, and some I haven't heard in a while (Like "Woman Goin' Crazy On Caroline Street" and "Fruitcakes," which he changed all the words to), but the flow was off for me. Oh well. It might also be that, due to traffic, it took me 3 hrs to get from my door to parking at Great Woods. This past Saturday night, I was lucky enough to go see James Taylor & Carole King at the Boston Garden. I have seen JT maybe a half dozen times, but I'd never seen Carole King. I can tell you that it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen. They both sounded awesome and were full of genuine energy and excitement. It was a shiver-inducing show. Don't tell anyone, but my mom cried. Just amazing. Doug and I get to see them perform again at Tanglewood and this show made me even more excited for that one. So, that's what I've been up to! I'll be back with more photos soon!

You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby

This little one is going to be celebrating her christening soon and her family wanted some formal portraits in her christening gown. What a beautiful dress! What a beautiful baby! What a beautiful sofa! A photographer's dream. I loved the way the photos have a vintage feel to them (thanks to the aforementioned dress & the sofa), so that's the way I edited them. Could you get any cuter than this little one?

Processing photos in sepia can be a risk (in my opinion). However, some photos just work when they're in sepia. This, to me, is one of those photos. I just love the old-fashioned feel it gives the picture.

Finally out of the dress!

Dancing at Discos, Eating Cheese on Toast

Haley is in the same class as my sister, so when I took Tessa's senior photos, Haley joined in, too! I think it's great to bring along a friend to your session. Haley & Tessa each got their own shoot, but they were together, which made it a little more comfortable (and goofy). I had each girl bring a "casual" outfit and a "fancy" outfit so they could change up their look midway through our session. We even had someone helping out with hair & make-up! Not that either girl needed much help (although Tessa did have her hair straightened). So, without further ado, here are some of my favorites of Haley...

Haley's quite a catch. Haha. That's a fishing net behind her. See? Now is it funny?

I made sure to take a few photos of the two girls together.

It's Raining Men

I love going to my clients' houses and photographing their families right after they bring their new little ones home. It's always such an exciting time! This family had just welcomed their third son.

Three Sons

It's always fun to see how siblings react to their new baby brothers/sisters. Sort of an "I won't sit with you, but maybe I'll poke you in the head to see what your story is" kind of philosophy.

Eyes!

There was absolutely no rain on this gorgeous day but the boys love playing under the golf umbrella. They carried it around and made forts with it. Who am I to say it can't be in the photo?
Three Sons

Definitely two of my favorites from the day! Quiet time with mommy. I couldn't choose just one, so you get to see both of them.

Last week was a little disjointed around here. I appreciate everyone's patience as I get back to blogging and returning emails!
Thanks!

Life's A Happy Game

Every photo session brings surprises! I had a wonderful session photographing Ebby's owner for her business and at the end, Ebby got her own impromptu shoot! She's a 9 yr old rescue dog and so good natured. I loved these photos and couldn't resist posting a couple!

Don't you want to be the recipient of this gaze?

I Want To Be The One To Walk In The Sun

Her favorite nickname for me is "the anal dictator" because apparently she thinks I'm bossy. She likes to drape herself all over me and call me "sis" because she knows it drives me crazy. But, I guess that's what little sisters are for, even when there's a 16 year age difference. Tessa is going to be a high school senior next year so we spent an afternoon recently taking some senior pictures. So much fun! Let me tell you something, no matter how annoying she is, I can't deny that she's gorgeous! Here's the proof:

When this is the first photo you take, you know it's going to be a good day.

A little personality...

Tessa has inherited many things from me, one of which is a strange addiction to America's Next Top Model. She really knows how to rock the broken doll, even if it's only for a minute before she collapses in laughter.

I wish I had those gorgeous eyes. I also wish I had her height, but that's a different post altogether.
